Travel & Directions

By plane

If you choose to travel by plane you may choose the AIRPORT LEIPZIG/HALLE as your destination airport. At the airport you will find a taxi stand right in front of Terminal B. You will need about 30 minutes to the hotel and the cost will be around EUR 40.

The Airport is directly connected to the main train station in Leipzig’s City Centre. The AirportExpress leaves the Airport every 30 minutes and needs 14 minutes to arrive at the main station.

The Penta Hotel is located close to the city center:

  • 250 m east from the Opera (Tram stop: “Augustusplatz”)
  • 500 m south-east from the Central Station

You might find it easier to secure flights to the air transportation hub FRANKFURT/MAIN especially if you are from outside of Europe. This is also a good possibility to travel to Leipzig if you don’t mind to take a three hour train ride to Leipzig. Even three hours seems like a lot, it is quite comfortable as the InterCity-Express (the highest service category/comfort level of Deutsche Bahn) takes you directly from the airport to the main station in Leipzig.

If you are keen to include a short trip to Berlin, you might want to consider flying to one of the BERLIN AIRPORTS. Trains depart every hour from Berlin and if you opt for the fastest option, the Intercity-Express, you’ll be in Leipzig in about 70 minutes.

Berlin airports, however, are not directly connected to the train station and you need to take a short bus ride first. Especially after a long distant-flight it feels like quite a hassle if you are going straight to Leipzig.

By train

If you travel by train you will most likely arrive at Leipzig Main Station (“Hauptbahnhof” or “Hbf”) which is located in the city centre.

The Penta Hotel is located close to the city center:

  • 250 m east from the Opera (Tram stop: “Augustusplatz”)
  • 500 m south-east from the Central Station

With the world famous Thomas Choir, the Gewandhaus Orchestra as well as with the friendly people and Europe’s largest alluvial forest within the city, Leipzig offers a unique mixture of opportunities for every visitor.

During your stay in Leipzig you might want to visit the magnificent Monument to the Battle of the Nations or enjoy some of the famous historic buildings located in the old town of Leipzig.

You can also discover a fascinating wilderness in the well-known Zoo Leipzig or explore the local vegetation by yourself at one of the parks close to the city center or the lakes surrounding Leipzig.

Leipzig has a rich cultural life with lots of museums and exhibitions – but you can also just relax in some of the famous beer gardens or pub areas like Barfussgässchen and support your football team during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
